Amazing “midnight” Show
If one pays any attention at all to Madonna’s reputation as a performer, it is well known that she is notorious for starting shows late. That said, the start time had already been changed from 8:30 to 10:30pm (about a week prior), and she still didn’t take the stage until well after midnight.
The audience, for the most part, was furious. People were falling asleep in their seats waiting (it’s Vegas... I’m sure alcohol played a part in that), sections of the audience were chanting “refund” before she even came on stage, and she was met with overwhelming boos by the time she appeared.
While somewhat irritated before hand, I managed to lose myself in the show once it started... and it was amazing!! My friend and I had great seats, very near the stage, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the show, which was visually and vocally stunning and at times very moving. I was on vacation, with no responsibilities in the morning, no desire to be anywhere else, and in awe of the show I was seeing from an icon. The experience overall would have been much more transcendent if a vibration of unity and respect had been fostered by the evening’s star, but that wasn’t the case.
Still... an amazing, theatrical, impressive show that I feel very fortunate to have seen!
